COMMEMORATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD
As every child in the world especially in Africa, deserve quality knowledge as part of government responsibility to educate him or her by making good structures and providing all basic needs in the school for making it’s country education to world and digital standard..
International Day of the Girl Child is an annual and internally recognized day on October 11 to recognize girl’s rights and then challenges girls face around the world.
The international Day of the Girl Child focuses on problems faced by girls which are an impediment to their well by being and achieving a better quality life on rights, safety and education of girl.
As part of the celebration, at selected to highlight the need of the hour. This year, the the me has been set as “Our time is now; Our it’s our Future. The African Initiative for Advancing Social Care and development (AFSCAD) is a non
governmental organization work store build African communities and integrate a system that will facilitate human development and improve quality lives.
Given the multiple challenges women and adolescent girls face, it is evident that promoting menstrual hygiene management (MHM) is not only as a nitation matter; it is also an important step toward safe guarding the dignity, bodily integrity and overall life opportunities of women and girls.
In line with its overall commitment to promoting gender equality, the World Bank is engaged in furthering the MHM agenda. Through arrange of technical and analytical initiative sit aims to better understand and address issues of MHM, and to there by ellevatet the dialogue on the importance of MHM.
Access to affordable menstruation products is a right, not a privilege. Yet, in Nigeria, poverty and social taboos force half of the adolescent girls and a certain percentage of women to use unhygienic old rags to manage their menstruation.
The period poverty comes with illnesses, school absenteeism, and pungent social injustice. Cordaid helps to curb the tide with a simple yet revolutionary sanitary pad.
To commemorate this year International Day of the Girl Child, we plan to organize a public policy dialogue with girls to address the above highed challenges faced by these girls. To raise awareness on the concept of reproductive health education rights, menstrual Hygiene, and gaps, opportunities to end period poverty among students.
To brainstorm on new strategies towards promoting girl’s right, and responding to any forms of abuse, descrimination and harm against female students. To a gree on collective action in responding to gender based violence and promoting the rights of a girl child in the school.
To set-up a School-based Health and GBV Responsiveness Hub that will be working to address common issues related to gender based violence and inadequate menstrual hygiene practices such a slow-quality sanitary materials.

To mark the year 2022 day for girl child, Mass Communication student Association MACOSA through the office of the women leader Rukayya Khalid Usman, set a new phase of the institution as the first to mark the “International Girl Child Day” to prove the ability of a woman to play vital role to nation building in all developmental areas as Social Sciences,Engineering, Agriculture, Crafts, polities among others.
While delivering a welcome address, Mallam Sunusi Rufai Buhari, a lecturer with department of Mass Communication Kaduna polytechnic, also a member with UNICEF to date in his goodwill message on the years theme “Our Time is now, and our Right and our Future is here” said, reports shows that one out of 5 girl in Nigeria, denied better life compare to boys. Adding that,
However, in the year 2003 in Nigeria, house of representatives, enacted a policy to make education mandatory among others.
Adding that, according to Nigeria child law, any child with tattoo over body of their son, will be sentence to prison term of 5 year’s. Saying report shows that Nigeria has the highest number of early marriage most of them who were at junior level, also , he re-emphasized on every child has the right to be safe guarded and from any form of harassment.

In her welcome adress speech, Mass communication and SUG women leader Rukayya Khalid Usman, urged all women to play a vital role in their society, added that women should be given opportunities to play role in all areas of national endeavors and keep their dignity where so ever they find their self in life.
Among the dignitaries at the event include Head of Department of Mass Communication Dr. Gambo Ahmad Ibrahim, HND and ND project chairman Dr. Bashir Hadi Ashara, station manager spider FM radio Hajiya Zainab Abubakar, female Lecturers from department of Mass Communication, Aisha magaji, madam Fatima shuibu, Dr. Confort Mado PhD, Dr. Maryam among others.
