
Aliero Federal University of Science and Technology Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, has issued a two-week ultimatum to the university’s Governing Council and management on an indefinite strike if its demands are not met.
The decision was made following a prolonged efforts to resolve the issues through dialogue and constructive engagement without success.
According to the union, the decision reached in a statement, saying ultimatum which runs from July 31 to August 13, was unanimously adopted by its congress to compel the authorities to fully implement the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU Agreement and address all outstanding welfare issues affecting its members.
However, the union warned the university management and Governing Council on its plan action if they failed to treat the ultimatum with levity, stressing that industrial action remained its last resort after repeated attempts to reach amicable resolution.
Earlier, the union appealed to all stakeholders to intervene urgently in the interest of students, staff and the overall stability of the institution.
